Gloucester Rugby Caps

from £15.00

Rugby caps were worn during games as part of the kit of the time, the first record of them being worn is from 1830’s, before that players wore top hats! One of the Navy Gloucester Rugby Caps, dated back to 1887, was owned by a Mr T Taylor and donated to the museum by his grandson. Mr T Taylor played 55 times for Gloucester and is named on the Honours Board hanging in the Lions Den at Kingsholm stadium. This cap is now on display as part of our autumn costume exhibition: Buttons, Badges and Blazers.
