May at the Museum

A month of calm moments, big builds and creative makes - something for every kind of museum day.

Civic Trust: Roman Gloucester Walks
Fri 8 & 22 May, 10:30am

Fancy a tiny time‑travel adventure? We’re heading out from the Museum for a whistle‑stop wander through Roman Gloucester starting with the Eastgate Chamber, our underground secret where you can get right up close to 2nd‑century remains.

From there, we’ll follow the old Roman streets to The Cross, wave at Emperor Nerva on Southgate Street, then loop back to the Museum for glittering finds and a chunk of 4th‑century wall still flexing after 1,600 years.

A cheerful stroll packed with stories waiting to be uncovered.

Quiet Mornings
Every Thursday

Our weekly Quiet Mornings offer a softer start for anyone who prefers a gentler museum experience. We lower the lights, soften the sounds and create a relaxed space where you can explore at your own pace. There’s no need to book, and you’re welcome to stay as long as you like once the museum returns to its usual buzz at midday.
